The proposed Greater Manchester-wide Clean Air Zone, which would have covered Manchester, Salford, Trafford, and seven other boroughs, was formally cancelled after all ten Greater Manchester councils voted against it. The region is pursuing air quality improvement without a charging scheme, and the ANPR camera network is being decommissioned, with removal expected to complete by 2026.
