Leeds City Council cancelled its planned Clean Air Zone in October 2020 after finding air quality had improved enough, driven by a faster-than-expected shift to cleaner buses and taxis, that the charging scheme was "no longer required." There are currently no plans to reintroduce it.

It's a genuinely common point of confusion, Leeds was one of the original cities mandated to introduce a Clean Air Zone, and many drivers still assume it charges cars the way Birmingham or Bristol do. It doesn't, and hasn't since the scheme was formally cancelled in 2020.
