What this means
Skoda's 76.3% pass rate is the highest of any volume mainstream brand in the UK, four points above the national average, and notably ahead of sister VW Group brand Volkswagen at 72.9%, despite sharing many of the same platforms and engines under the skin.
The Karoq and Kodiaq SUVs are the standouts, passing at 89.0% and 87.3%. They are recent models, so almost every one tested was under ten years old, which flatters the raw figure: allowing for that age mix, a typical UK car would be expected to pass about 84% and 83%. They still beat that by 5.4 and 4.0 points, a real advantage but smaller than the headline suggests. The smaller Fabia passes at 70.6%, a reminder that Skoda's strongest results sit in its newer SUV range rather than across the board.
